what a difference a day makes (as the song says). this time yesterday i was contemplating suicide by paper cuts, today i am air drumming to the beatles in my office and practically skipping around work like a loon. this drastic change of heart was brought about by, believe it or not, a pair of boots (or, to be more precise, a pair of snowboarding boots). i started boarding last year and went regularly for the whole season but not once did i descend the mountain without being in some sort of leg/foot/toe pain. at some points it was so bad that i had to remove the boots half way done the slope just to give my feet relief. anyway, when i bought my new board i also bought new boots. after a week in whistler i was in so much toe pain (I still have a black toenail!) that i threatened to stick my board on the fire and never snowboard again. last weekend we returned those boots to the store and got me some new ones. I used them for the first time last night and they are soo cool. they have custom molded inners and the boa lace system and THEY DO NOT HURT MY FEET. it was like wearing little fluffy clouds on my feet. it was beautiful. snowboarding is beautiful again. i left the mountain feeling as high as a kite and i havent come down yet.
