is it so wrong to hate someone simply because you have to buy them a birthday present and you have absolutely no clue what to buy them. if it is it shouldn't be.

welcome to the comedy of errors which is my life.
i bought a new white blouse and black cashmere tank to wear with my favourite grey tweed skirt. to add a punch of colour i put on my bright red sling backs. the outfit looked pretty good but since i had a bit of extra time before i needed to set off for work i decided to add icing by painting my nails red to match my shoes. to cut a long story short, about 7 nails in i dropped the loaded nail polish brush. it bounced from my skirt (which incidently is part of a suit) to my brand new stockings to the cream carpet we had installed earlier this year and then, to ensure it did the maximum damage, it did an extra bounce on the carpet. in the split second it took for this to occur my brain shut down. i ran for the kitchen paper which was on a shelf i couldn't reach, so i called for the CG who was sick in bed and he came to see what the heck was going on. in my totally unneccessary panic i could hardly speak to explain what i had done and then i was completely incapable of telling him where the nail polish remover was (which i couldn't get because my nails were still wet and i didn't want to get polish anywhere else) so i just kept pointing at the box it was in while the CG pulled things willy nilly out of the bathroom cupboard. the CG started dealing with the carpet. he was sick, naked and almost blind without his contact lenses so it wasn't an easy task. in the meantime i was trying to get the polish off my skirt using nail polish remover and the only thing i could grab easily, which happened to be a white bathroom towel! the nail polish remover disintigrated the lining on my skirt, the white towel was covered in black lining and red polish, and the skirt still had the stain. we had better luck with the carpet though. thank god for stain-master! the worst thing was, when things had finally settled down i still had to repaint the nails on my right hand before i left for work.
when i eventually got into work, half an hour late, someone said (i kid you not) "i love those shoes. oh and your nails match". i guess it was all worth it then!
