one thing i haven't mentioned here is that a few months after i had G i went to the doctor to "complain" about stiff joints. the pain in my feet and knees when i got out of bed was really quite bad. it made climbing up and down our two flights of stairs from the bedroom to the kitchen even more annoying. anyway, they did a blood test to check for arthritis and a couple of days later i got a call telling me to make an appointment to see the doctor to chat about my results. it sounded a bit ominous but the good news was that i didn't have arthritis. the bad news was that i had a borderline over-active thyroid problem. the doctor asked me if i'd lost a lot of weight recently and i just laughed because i still looked like i was pregnant! a month later i had to do another blood test and again i was called to see the doctor. this time they told me that i had an under-active thyroid problem and i was going to have to take meds for the rest of my life to deal with it. i started taking the meds 3 weeks ago and today just for fun i tried on some old clothes i used to wear for work. i was rather shocked to find that i could actually fit in them. i'm not sure if this is down to the medication or because i've been exercising most days (G goes in the door bouncer and i go on the eliptical) and eating pretty healthily but i'm feeling really rather pleased with myself right now. i'd still like to get rid of a bit more weight and more importantly i want to feel healthy and energized but i'm quite positive about being able to do this.
talking of being pleased with myself, i've also done a number of solo trips in the car with G which is something i was beginning to think i would never be able to achieve. i don't love driving but i definitely don't hate it and, for now, i'm happy with that!
