to amuse and entertain us during our winter wonderland vacation someone had the bright idea of us all writing down our top ten lists of movies, books, albums and tv shows so that we could compare contrast and humiliate each other. it took a long time for us to make up our lists but even longer to attempt to agree on the criteria for making our choices (critical acclaim vs personal meaning) anyway, here are the lists that i came up with:

fellowship of the ring
star wars
clerks
fargo
pale rider
high plains drifter
crouching tiger hidden dragon

seven brides for seven brothers
(couldn't think of a 10th under pressure)

(couldn't do anymore...it took me about 3 days to get that far and i'm still not happy with it)
1:44 p.m. - January 02, 2003
since its the start of a new year i decided to put in some effort and i got into work 5 minutes before i usually arrive. of course this was actually 10 minutes late but thats not the point. instead of the regular 45 minutes of faffing around on the internet i dived straight into my in-tray and i was feeling very pleased with myself. i worked almost solidly for about 25 minutes and then my boss waltzed into my office. "i am in need of cheer" she announed, "lets go out for coffee". so, despite the fact that i don't even drink coffee, off we went to the local starbucks and there we stayed for the next hour. the morning of my first day back to work is not yet over and i'm already in full slacking mode. this does not bode well for my ideas of renewed enthusiasm and effort at work.
fear not though, i have plans and goals for this year and i will not be swayed from meeting them.

5 guys, 3 girls, 1 log cabin (with real wood fire), 9 snowboards, 1 set of fatty bobs mini skis, 10 daily inches of snow and 1 too many alcoholic beverages. that perfectly describes the circumstances of my last 5 days. we got back from our trip to whistler yesterday afternoon and i'm already missing the friends and the freezing cold snow and the afternoon beers and the 'light conversation' in front of the fire before going out for dinner.
so its 2003. this year is going to be a good one for me. i just know it.
