i'm glad the sun has come out today. G is sleeping in her bouncy chair and i would usually put her into her cot and go and use the "gym" but i feel like thinking instead. after oh so many days of trying to sort out what we are doing with our lives (should we stay or should we go), i've realised that we aren't going to be answering this question any time soon and i should be living in the here and now and making the most of it. one of the things i feel i need to do is make our house more like a home. living in a rental place always has it's limitations. even without decisions about whether you plan to stay in the country or not you never feel like you want to spend that much money on furniture etc because the next time you move whatever you have bought might not fit. however, i do feel like we could make the place a little more complete and a little more cosy, not to mention a little more practical. once G moves into her own room, which is imminent and almost happened last night but i changed my mind at the last minute, we will no longer have a spare room for guests which is annoying because my parents come to stay with us for 3 or 4 days at a time. also, the cg is now going into his office in Bath about 4 days a week so, in my opinion, his need for a dedicated home office is no longer necessary. then we have what i call "the playroom" which is a decent sized room accessed from the living room by double doors which i keep open all the time so we have windows shining light into the living area from both sides of the house. the cgs office is not a big room but we might be able to squeeze Gs cot etc into it, which would be handy during the day because it's on the middle floor where all the living rooms are, and move his desk upstairs to the spare room where guests could also sleep but that would mean G sleeps on a different floor to us at night or we could move the desk etc into the playroom, keep G upstairs and try and squeeze a double bed into the office (which would really be a squeeze) but then we loose the playroom and the cg is so messy with his work crap although i could get him to take some of it into his office in Bath. we have so many rooms, more than we've ever had before, i'm just not really sure which option is the best - i just think that it would make sense to try and sort these issues out, particularly since we seem to be staying here for a while. i'd also like to get some more of my things out of storage and even if we can't hang everything up (they don't like you putting too many nails in the walls to hang things) we could find other ways of displaying items. finally, i'd like to get some bedside tables and maybe a tv for the bedroom. these are things i know we would buy if we owned a place and i don't want to spend the next year feel like i'm just waiting for the next transition.
