we are home sweet home except that in a few days it won't be our home. we will be living in an apartment around the corner which is half the size of this place and a lot less nicely decorated (at least in my opinion but then i did decorate this place). at least the new place has a weekly maid service. i've never had that before but i'm willing to bet that i'm much more likely to keep the place clean and tidy knowing that someone is going to come in to clean and tidy. oh the irony of it.
so we had a great vacation. the highlights were:
a) the cg waving hello to a grizzly bear. the bear took immediate offense to this action and made a hasty dash in our direction to make its complaint. this resulted in a dozen or so tourists running screaming to their cars. (in case you are wondering why my husband decided to wave at the bear, he hasn't got the foggiest idea why he did it other than that he was being "friendly").
b) the view from the top of Whistler's Mountain in Jasper. wow!
c) the log cabin we stayed in in Yoho National Park. it was cute, it was luxurious, it was also kind of expensive (but what the heck...soon we won't be able to afford a holiday never mind a couple of nights in a fancy hotel!)
d) meeting up with lexie for dinner and drinks in canmore (twice...one time she cooked and she cooked good).
e) not being able to walk properly for 3 days due to the muscle pain in my legs after a 12k hike (a third of which was very uphill) in the hot sun. oh wait, that's not a highlight. it was a good walk at the time though...much better than the one where i had a stare out competition with a wolf. (for those interested, i let the wolf win).
