initially it may not seem fair that babies tend to say daddy before mummy (it's something to do with hard sounds being easier to say than soft sounds) but sometimes it comes in handy i.e. this morning when G woke us up by shouting "dada". usually i get up and go into her room but today i just gave the cg a nudge and told him "someone's calling you".
today's new thing is hand clapping. for a while now she has been fascinated by her hands, often raising one up in the air, fingers stretched out as if she is holding something, and staring up at it (as though she is about to say "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio...."). now she holds her hands up and apart, then brings them together for 3 or 4 claps and then pats the floor. she repeats this until we start to clap along with her and then she looks at us like we are crazy and turns her attention to something else.
it's so amazing seeing her development. sometimes i watch her playing by herself and i can see, from her movements and facial expressions, that she is trying to work things out. who needs tv when you have a kid to watch!
