one thing i really don't miss about vancouver is the rain. when i was really into snowboarding the rain in town was a signal that up on the mountains big flakes of fluffy snow were falling and that made me happy. later the rain simply meant that i was going to get soggy and wet. it's not like we don't get rain in the uk but it doesn't seem half as relentless. what we do get here is bitter cold. some days it's so cold that when i get up and open the curtains the frost is so extensive that it looks like it's snowed. i don't like being cold but i love it when these frosty days are combined with blue skies and sunshine. we've had quite a few of those lately.

from 12 weeks to 7 months G slept went to bed around 7.30pm without fuss and slept happily through until about 8am. it was fantastic. however, about 3 weeks ago she decided to give us nightly demonstrations of what many parents have to deal with. last night wasn't too bad - i only got up twice at around 2am and it was very briefly. the night before was the worst night we have had. she woke at 4am and then refused to go back to sleep until about 5.30am - we even resorted to giving her a night feed, something we haven't done for months and months. i don't have any other solution for this issue than to feed her more. i had decreased her milk feeds but i'm going to up them a little again - i'm also going to increase her meal portion sizes. fingers crossed this will lead to sounder sleep for all three of us. if not, we are all going to start getting very, very grumpy!
