we forgot to buy wedding rings so the night before we were to exchange our vows the CG stopped off at argos, a great store for garden furniture and childrens toys, and picked up a couple of extremely cheap silver bands. i wore my ring for just over two months but on christmas day, after a silent fight with the CG, i took it off and never wore it again. he wore his for the duration of the ceremony and then put it back in the box. it didn't fit him. not many people know that i don't wear either a wedding ring or an engagement ring. on my ring finger i wear 2 eternity rings; a thin platinum band that belonged to my maternal grandmother and a white gold diamond ring that i practically insisted the CG buy for me when we decided to emigrate to canada (which i'll admit looks suspiciously like an engagement ring).
today, before work, we talked about exchanging wedding rings for our 5th wedding anniversary in October. this would mean a lot to me. it would be a symbol of the fact that i am now ready to embrace the vows i took 5 years ago.
on the way into work i toyed with the idea of us getting inscriptions inside the rings but so far all i've come up with for the CGs ring is "better late than never".
